AndersElite opens 13th regional office, in Glasgow!

.

Reports in the Chartered Institute of Building in 2004 and the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce through 2005 have left Scotlandís construction industry in no doubt of the serious shortage of available skilled labour. According to a study by the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, 74% of respondents in Scotland see the shortage of skilled labour as a barrier to growth in the City in 2006. Finding, training and retaining staff was found to be the second biggest challenge facing construction companies in 2006.

AndersElite, the built environment recruitment specialist, have now set up their first office in Glasgow in response to the high demand for construction professionals across Scotland. The office celebrates its official opening on Thursday 2nd March at The Lighthouse, Scotlandís first, dedicated national centre for architects and design. Peter Kearns, Executive Director of the Clyde Waterfront Regeneration, a strategic partnership of the Scottish Executive, Scottish Enterprise, Glasgow City Council, Renfrewshire Council, West Dunbartonshire Council and Communities Scotland, will be speaking at the opening. His speech will focus on the redevelopment of the Clyde (the biggest urban regeneration project in Europe) and the important role of agencies in this.

Jeremy Hill, AndersElite Scotland Area Manger said ìGlasgow is the UK’s 4th largest conurbation, and is currently in the midst of one of the largest regeneration programs in Europe. The opening of our office here will give us the opportunity to take full advantage of the buoyant construction market in the area and use our experience in other regions to source and place much-needed skilled industry professionalsî.

David Blenkharn, Resource Manager for Carillion said: ìCarillion PLC have been using AndersElite as a supplier of Permanent and Freelance staff on many of our high profile projects throughout Glasgow and West Central Scotland over the last 12 months. The levels of professional service and industry knowledge displayed by AndersElite are unsurpassed as a quality provider of recruitment solutions within the built environment.î

The office is centrally placed in St Vincentís Street, and will offer a range of services. Specialist desks will cover Construction areas such as Civils and General Housing, M&E Contracting and Power & Energy. Experienced AndersElite consultants, who will recruit for both permanent and contract vacancies, will staff the office. AndersEliteís success in Edinburgh has meant it already has an established client list including some of the UKís largest contractors and consultancies.
