The www.ratemyemployer.ca website, which allows employees to rate their employers anonymously in just a few mouse clicks, already boasts some 1,500 comments about more than 600 Canadian companies, including some of the largest in the country.
In addition to the enthusiasm for the site and the quality of the testimonials gathered, what's very motivating is the apparent balance between positive and negative opinions, says RateMyEmployer.ca founder Manuel Francisci.
The site enables public and anonymous sharing of one's work experiences to assist candidates seeking their next employer.
Each evaluation comprises a rating of one to five stars on various criteria such as atmosphere or work/family life balance, along with a free text comment. An average score is then calculated using all the evaluations so as to define a ranking of the best employers by province or industry.
For companies, RateMyEmployer.ca can serve as a valuable diagnostic tool for putting strengths and weaknesses into perspective in order to better position the employer brand in candidates' minds.
