ADC signs up agents in China for English and IT training - 09/2001

.

ADC IT College has signed up two agents in China for exchange student English language and IT training in the UK. The new agents are the Quing Dao Vocational College of Binhai in Shandong Province and Bridge Consultants in Guangzhou.

Quing Dao College has over 4,000 students and operates a major student foreign exchange scheme with 20 other institutes in countries throughout the world. These include Japan, Germany, France, Australia and Malaysia. Each year, the college sends students on exchange training in a variety of subjects, particularly those involving advanced, special skills such as information technology.

Bridge Consultants is a commercial training organisation specialising in recruitment, business management and consulting, and training. ADC IT College will now provide students coming to the UK and sponsored by both organisations, where necessary, with initial English language training to
prepare them for the IT courses.

Based in Harrow, Middlesex, ADC IT College combines a wide range of training delivery methods, including traditional classroom techniques, distance, supported and guided learning - and a variety of halfway house solutions anywhere in between. Purpose-built training suites are equipped with state-of-the-art high-end workstations running the latest operating systems and connected over a network to powerful Dell servers.

The English language courses have been developed to meet a number of needs - by students from overseas who may speak little or no English, as well as those from UK ethnic minorities for whom English is only a second language and who often require additional tutoring to get the maximum benefit from IT courses run by the college.

The College offers the widest range of courses, courseware and training programmes, and a full testing, certification and assessment solution. Courses include the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), MCSE, Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS), MCSE, Cisco, CNA, CNE and many others - covering the full spectrum of IT ability needs at all levels, from raw beginners to senior IT professionals and managers.

In addition to the wide range of courses and training programmes available at the college, ADC works closely with the British Computer Society, which is responsible for the deployment of the European Computer Driving Licence. ADC promotes the adoption of ECDL in the UK and supports its implementation by offering a complete solution that includes approved courseware, testing and test centre accreditation.

ECDL is an internationally recognised certificate of knowledge and competence in IT that is recognised throughout Europe. Broadly equivalent to
NVQ Level 2 (using IT), it differs from traditional training through its flexibility. There are seven modules covering the main areas of IT that students must pass to achieve the certificate.

These can be taken at the studentís own pace and in any order. Module subjects comprise basic concepts, using the computer and managing files, spreadsheets, databases, word processing, information and communications and presentation. Learners can continue their course and take tests at any accredited centre in the UK - and throughout Europe. They can increase or reduce the frequency of the training sessions to suite their own
circumstances - or even break off completely and resume whenever they wish. ECDL is sponsored by the European Union and managed in the UK by the British Computer Society.
