A fresh, new work-based personality measure is to be launched in the UK by Hogrefe Ltd combining work style and motivation.
The Business-focused Inventory of Personality (BIP) is an online questionnaire that takes the user beyond looking just at work behaviours ñ it helps to understand why the person chooses to plan and shape their career in a certain direction, as well as what drives them to work in the way that they do.
ìOur customers have been asking us for some time for this type of assessment tool. Itís the combination of style and motivation that they see as adding real value to the assessment process. Business managers want to not only get an idea of how candidates are likely to behave at work but also to gain an insight into what motivates them and how this can be channeled.î commented Wendy Lord, Chief Psychologist at Hogrefe Ltd.
ìAs the BIP is new to the UK market, we see it not only as a tool for those that have been looking for a work-based questionnaire with strong validity evidence, but also as a vehicle that can help eliminate ëfeedback fatigueí. This is when candidates have completed well-used personality questionnaires and, often the same one many times over. The recipients find the feedback session somewhat predictable and easy to manage. The BIP is new, fresh and contemporary so that the feedback session will be stimulating for both the test taker and the test administrator.î
Significantly the BIP offers a great starting point for development or coaching conversations with its separate version of the questionnaire where others through the questionnaire give their impression of the person. Wendy Lord continues, ìItís not a 360 process, as weíre not recommending who, or how many, should complete it, but itís proved to offer valuable additional information in both individual and team development situations when considering the person from their own perspective as well as from those of others.î
The BIP will be launched on 15th April and will be featured at Human Resource Development conference (HRD) at ExCeL London from 15th to 17th April. The BIP is currently available in a number of European languages.
