The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), the trade association for the UKís 26.6 billion private recruitment industry, has announced the appointment of two new directors to serve on its Board.
The appointment of Andrew Horner and Alan Horn again shows the RECís commitment to include board members representing every sector of the industry.
Andrew Horner, who works for Premier Placement Services Ltd in Stoke-on-Trent, has been Chair of the RECís Drivers Sector Group for the past seven years. He started in recruitment in 1985.
Of his appointment to the Board, Andrew said: ìI am thrilled as I can now continue extolling the virtues of the driversí sector group to the rest of the board and make them all understand what an important sector group it is to our industry.
ìI also feel very honoured to have been elected. The REC board comprises some very influential members who have been in the business a long time and I am sure I will learn a lot from them.î
Alan Horn is the Chief Executive of The Albemarle Group, the UKís largest provider of interim managers, which comprises Albemarle Interim Management, Armadillo Executive Resource and Walker-Cox.
Alan started his own interim management company in 1989 and sold it to Albemarle in 1994. He then managed the sale of Albemarle to Select Appointments (Holdings) which then merged with Vedior NV, the Dutch staffing group. He remains a shareholder with Albemarle.
He has also been heavily involved in ensuring that the interim management industry gears itself to deal with legislative threats. He says he is looking forward to raising the focus of the interim management industry at REC board level as well as contributing to the direction of the UK staffing industry.
Gary Irvine, Chairman of the REC Board of Directors, said of their appointments: ìBoth Andrew and Alan will make a very positive contribution to the REC through their in-depth knowledge of their respective sectors which will provide us with a greater understanding of the challenges they face.
ìWe welcome their presence on the board and look forward to working with both of them in order to achieve the very best for the REC.î
