Omega Resource Group Ltd has confirmed its leading role as recruiter of technical overseas workers with its latest contract to provide technical engineers for world famous, London Taxis International, manufacturers of the iconic black cab.
As a pioneer of demand led recruitment solutions, Omega has over the last 24 months provided 2,000 overseas workers (primarily from Poland) for specific UK posts in a range of sectors including technical engineering, food processing and a range of manufacturing roles - from professional and managerial through to skilled and unskilled labour.
According to James Strickland, Omega group director, ìThe chronic skills shortage is continuing throughout the UK across a wide range of industries and it is being further fuelled by record employment level across the majority of sectors.
ìLondon Taxis International, along with our other clients, is one such company taking overseas recruitment seriously as a solution to this dilemma.
ìOverseas recruitment is not the cheap option and as a result recruits are paid on par with UK salaries and the selection process is rigorous. Moreover, we require our clients fly out to our assessment centre in Warsaw for an exhaustive programme to ensure the best candidates are picked for each job. If, for any reason, prospective clients do not buy into our welfare ethos then we do not continue the relationship.î
In the case of London Taxis International, 14 technicians were selected from a two day programme managed by Omegaís Nathan Pearce and Warsaw office manager, Piotr Swirkowski.
Technicians were briefed thoroughly on the workings of the new TX4 cab and drivers were put through their paces in taxis brought over to Warsaw by Omega.
ìWe are ensuring that London Taxis International get candidates who are prepared from day one and therefore immediately contribute to the business process,î commented James Strickland.
For those workers that make the grade, the commitment that Omega invests in them continues with an exceptional level of care when they arrive in the UK.
Omega ensures that all workers are inducted into their workplace and provide a welfare team to ensure any queries are answered. This extends to Omega setting up bank accounts for workers, ensuring they have adequate accommodation close to their workplace and maintaining regular contact.
Omega is recognised throughout the industry as breaking new ground when it comes to welfare led overseas recruitment. Indeed, it was one of the first consultancies to be awarded the gangmasterís license.
