National IT recruitment firm forecasts buoyant job market in 2007

IT recruitment specialist Veritas IT is predicting a continuing high demand for qualified candidates in 2007 and beyond

With the UK information and communications technology (ICT) market forecast to grow by 2.9* per cent next year, IT recruitment specialist Veritas IT is predicting a continuing high demand for qualified candidates in 2007 and beyond.

ìFrom our own observations of clients releasing funds to invest in projects to improve customer retention, increase market share and generally progress operational efficiency, we can see a continuing healthy demand for skills like Java, ASP and Oracle,î says Jason Giller, managing director of Veritas IT.

He says that many sectors have seen a return to growth in 2006, particularly financial services, retail and telecoms. Indeed the latter market is predicted to grow by 1.3* per cent in 2007.

ìThe combination of improved economic development, a positive business climate and new convergence technologies have created a favourable environment for ICT investment and those with the necessary skills will continue to command premium salaries,î says Giller.

ìPeople often use New Year as an opportunity to look for a new job and we are constantly on the lookout for skilled workers, people with external qualifications such as Microsoftís MCSE or MCSD and Ciscoís CCNA or CCIE. Structured project management qualifications like Prince are also highly regarded among employers,î he adds.

For his own firm, Giller is optimistic about organic growth in all three offices in Milton Keynes, Bristol and London. His team will also be progressing strategic acquisition programmes during the course of the year.
