Hay Group is pleased to announce the launch of its new Board Effectiveness Practice, to be led by Beverly Behan, worldwide practice Managing Director.

ìBeverlyís background is the perfect match for Hay Groupís unique expertise in Executive Compensation, Executive Team performance, and CEO Succession Planning,î said John Larrere, V.P. and General Manager of Hay Group. ìIn recent years, Boards have substantially increased their level of engagement in many critical aspects of governance where Hay Group can provide rigorous approaches, particularly to what is arguably a Boardís single most important responsibility - planning for the succession of the CEO. New Boards, formed due to spin offs, IPOs or mergers, and new CEOs working with their Boards, have a unique opportunity to shape and enhance the Board from the outset to make it a strategic resource to their organization.î

The new practice, which will focus on working with Boards of Directors and their Governance and Compensation Committees, builds on Hay Groupís extensive experience in maximizing the potential of human capital from two aspects. First, by helping Boards with CEO succession planning, CEO evaluation and other human capital issues within the Boardís purview, and second, by helping Boards to optimize their own effectiveness in working together and in working with senior management, providing help in areas of Board leadership, individual director evaluations, Board evaluations, and processes for Board engagement in corporate strategy.

Before joining Hay Group, Beverly was a partner with Mercer Delta Consulting’s Corporate Governance practice. She has worked with more than 60 Boards of Directors over the past 10 years. She served as an expert advisor to the National Association of Corporate Directorsí Blue Ribbon Commission on Board Leadership in 2004, was a founding faculty member of the Conference Board of Canadaís Directorsí College, and is co-author of ìBuilding Better Boards: A Blueprint for Effective Governance,î Jossey-Bass, 2006. Beverly, who will be based in Hay Groupís New York Metro office, will lead the new practice globally, with initial emphasis on working with Boards in the United States.

Beverly, a native Canadian who resides in New York City, has an MBA from the University of Calgary, an LLB from the University of Western Ontario Law School and an Honorary Business Administration degree from Ivey Business School, University of Western Ontario.
