Monster and Philadelphia Daily News announce Alliance

Global Recruitment Site and Local Media Group Join Forces to Provide One-stop Online Hiring Solutions to Philadelphia-area Employers and Job Seekers

NEW YORK & PHILADELPHIA - Monster and Philadelphia Media Holdings LLC, the new owner of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News and philly.com, today announced a new strategic alliance to deliver online and offline recruitment services to employers and job seekers in the nationís fourth largest metro market - representing the first such alliance between Monster and a major-market media company.

The new alliance exemplifies Monster Worldwideís corporate strategy to grow Monster via multiple distribution channels and reflects Philadelphia Media Holdingsí commitment to leverage and expand the revenue base of its media properties. Central to the alliance is a soon-to-be-launched co-branded job search and recruitment website, which will combine the strength of the Monster brand and product portfolio with the deep local market expertise and audience of Philadelphiaís largest circulation daily newspapers (The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News) and number one website (philly.com). The new website will deliver more powerful recruitment tools and services to Philadelphia-area employers and provide a broader array of potential employment opportunities to job seekers, enabling both partners to increase consumer and employer marketshare.

We chose to partner with Monster.com because we wanted to work with the industryís premier online job site. Weíre comfortable breaking new ground and we believe partnering with Monster.com puts us on the cutting edge of the next wave in online job searching. As the new owners of The Inquirer, Daily News and philly.com, this alliance represents an important milestone in our strategic plan to foster new, innovative revenue growth opportunities that unlock the true potential of both our print and online properties, said Brian Tierney, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Philadelphia Media Holdings (PMH). Working together, PMH and Monster.com will offer a powerful combination of recruitment classified advertising certain to appeal to Delaware Valley employers and job seekers alike.

Available on August 14, the new co-branded website will give Philadelphia-area employers the opportunity to access Monsterís industry leading resume database, which attracts more than 40,000 new resumes each day. Philadelphia-area job seekers will benefit from a more compelling, one-stop shopping job search experience, featuring a larger, more dynamic array of employer job opportunities, better tools and career assistance resources, and the expert job seeking advice that only the online recruitment industry leader can provide.

With the choices available to Philadelphia Media Holdings, we are delighted that they selected Monster as their preferred online partner and look forward to collaborating as a dynamic new force that will further elevate and advance the overall recruitment marketplace in Philadelphia, said Andrew J. McKelvey, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Monster Worldwide. As the first alliance between Monster and a major newspaper media group, this initiative is a prime example of our continued commitment to grow Monster through a variety of strategic distribution points and partnerships. In addition, this initiative exemplifies how we remain singularly focused on leveraging the tremendous recognition of the Monster brand and implementing targeted marketing and promotional efforts to drive Monsterís local market share.

Douglas Klinger, President of Monster, North America added, This strategic initiative with PMH demonstrates our ability to capitalize on, and deploy, our broad portfolio of multiple, integrated sales/distribution channels to help strengthen Monster.comís presence in key local U.S. markets. With tremendous local market reach, visibility, and breadth of services, Monster.com and PMH are uniquely equipped to provide Philadelphia-area businesses and job seekers with the most effective and efficient recruitment services available.
