The worldís oldest and largest animal welfare charity has signalled the importance of people in meeting its strategic objectives, with the appointment of Brian Millar to the newly established role of RSPCA Director or Human Resources.
Brian Millar, who has been working for the Society since 2004 as Head of Human Resources, takes up the new directorial position this month.
ìI am delighted that, in this new role, I will be able to help build bridges between the national Society and the branches and volunteers who are so integral in improving animal welfare locally,î said Brian Millar.
ìI will also continue to drive a performance culture with an emphasis on individual employee development. After all, job satisfaction generates improved performance, which results in a more effective workforce, and in turn to greater protection for animals.
ìIt is vitally important that employees enjoy work as much as possible and for that they require support and effective HR policies - especially considering the stressful and distressing issues that many of those who work for the RSPCA have to deal with,î said Brian.
Welcoming the appointment, Jackie Ballard, Director General of the RSPCA said: ìThe Director of Human Resources is a new post for the RSPCA which will increase our focus and commitment to employee, trustee and volunteer development and support. Brian will be an energetic and valuable addition to our Directors’ team.î
Brian, a graduate and fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, has been an HR professional for 17 years, and prior to joining the RSPCA was Vice President, BT Global Solutions. He is married with two children and a collie cross, and lives on the South Coast.
