2006 Interim Manager of the Year Named

Susan Graham named Interim Manager of the Year 2006 by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) have named Susan Graham as Interim Manager of the Year 2006 for her achievements as the Interim CEO at England Netball Ltd. Susanís recognition for her accomplishments makes her the first woman to receive this REC award.

Initially placed by Interim Performers in early 2005 to overhaul the finance function, Susan was asked to widen her remit and take on the Chief Executiveís role when the previous CEO left in the summer. Her varied role has included a review of the board structure and subsequent realignment of board members responsibilities, in addition to a review of the administration structure for the new elite competition ñëfigleaves.com Superleague.í

Aimee Fleming, REC Editor for Recruitment Matters magazine and one of the judges for the competition, summarised her impressions of Susan:

Susan clearly impressed England Netball as she moved from Interim Finance Director to Interim CEO. She was faced with a real challenge developing a largely voluntary workforce, representing 55,000 individuals operating to a very fragmented structure into a commercially focused operation. This requires outstanding leadership skills and the ability to make tough decisions.

Susanís interim management consultancy provider, James Fallan of Interim Performers, also commended her leadership and business skills:

ìSusan has shown throughout her career what an outstanding change manager and leader she is. I think she is a shining example of what an interim manager can deliver to an organisation and all of us at Interim Performers warmly congratulate her on this award. I very much look forward to working with her again in the future.î

Susanís reaction to the award is ì I am obviously very pleased to receive this award. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at England Netball and feel privileged to have worked alongside so many dedicated and hard working individuals, whose support any sporting organisation would be lucky to have.
