Specialist Hospitality recruiters, the Berkeley Scott Group, were delighted to be sponsors of the International Award at the recent Springboard Awards for Excellence held at the Brewery, London on Halloween night.

Anne Pierce Chief Executive of Springboard commented: ìThe entries this year reflected the industryís vision and effort in creating initiatives to attract and retain high calibre staff.î

ìThe companies and organisations which have excelled are reaping the rewards of a carefully constructed approach to the ongoing problem of staff shortages and will continue to thrive. Their successful initiatives send a clear message to the rest of the industry that this is the way forward.î

The Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort won the new International Award, sponsored by the Berkeley Scott Group and presented by Berkeley Scott CEO Roddy Watt. The award was for a company that could demonstrate a specific overseas recruitment campaign with proven results. The hotel set up a Training Academy for its UK and overseas staff in order to build a highly skilled workforce. Links were established with the Cezar Ritz colleges in Switzerland and Croatia and with the Maltese Hospitality Academy, alongside a partnership with a Polish organisation.

Berkeley Scott operates a specialist division dedicated to recruitment from within the EU which focuses primarily on developing the companyís established links with the Czech Republic, Poland and other Central Eastern European recruitment markets. Berkeley Scott had already identified the newly expanded European Union as being an excellent source of quality candidates who are ideally placed to help satisfy the current skills shortages being experienced by many sectors of the Hospitality industry and other sectors where skills shortages impact on the delivery of quality customer service.
