Cash Simply, sponsors the First Ever Consultant of the Year Award at:- Archant Suffolk Recruitment Awards which took place on the 28th October2005 at the Hotel Elizabeth, Copdock, Ipswich. The aim of the awards was to recognise both people and companies who have made a real difference to recruitment in Suffolk over the year to September 2005 and also to raise the profile of recruitment generally in the county. In the latter context Argent were delighted to announce the Recruitment and Employment Confederation as the main sponsor for the event but Cash Simply was keen to make a difference with the often unsung heroes of the recruitment industry, the consultants. The awards were open to everyone that either recruits personnel or advertises recruitment in Suffolk. These could be Recruitment Agencies, Companies based in Suffolk, or Advertising Agencies. The year culminated in a glittering awards evening at the Hotel Elizabeth on Friday 28 th October and included a champagne reception, 3 course dinner, dancing to a live band and later a disco.
The Awards ceremony itself was hosted by TVís Helen McDermott. Tom Atkinson, Chief Executive at Cash Simply said ìThe recruitment industry is a multi billion industry that gives the UK economy the flexibility and responsiveness that helps to make it first class. Recruitment Consultants are the individuals who make Britainís recruitment industry hum but their contribution is often not recognised, as it should be.
There are more than 1 million temps working at any one time and without permanent placements being serviced, the British economy would not be in the advantageous position it is today. Itís all very well winning the contract to service say ìLive 8î or ìThe Notting Hill Carnivalî clean up, as one of our Employment Agency customers did recently but the work load of providing hundreds of temps at short notice is considerable. Keeping cheerful and effective when your client has only given you a few days notice and then complains when one or two temps fail to turn up on site is absolutely imperative. Few jobs are more pressurised but so badly recognised. The TUC would have us believe that employment agencies are pariahs on the state and exploiters of workers. Whilst there will always be a few bad eggs it is time they and others recognised the reality that it is employment agencies and in particular, the recruitment consultants who match candidate and vacancy and work for many who seek work on a flexible basis or fulfil the career desires of many who seek permanent placements. Indeed, there is also a welcome interim route between the two for those who often find it difficult or even impossible to achieve the full time employment they seek without the help and dedication of recruitment consultants and their agencies.
