Broadcaster, Carol Barnes, is chairing a discussion at the HR professionís annual event in Harrogate on Wednesday 26th October, to help businesses be ready for new laws on age discrimination. The discussion, at the annual CIPD conference, will be hosted by the Age Partnership Group (APG); a body representing businesses, employers, trade unions, charities and government departments.
An expert panel will be leading the discussion including: Lisa Harris, Employment Lawyer at Morgan Cole; Dianah Worman, Diversity Manager at CIPD; Viv Duke, Director of mature workersí recruitment agency ñ Encore; and Philip Horn, Resource Manager at ASDA.
Carol Barnes says: ìWith age discrimination being outlawed next year, thereís no better time to have an honest discussion about what this might entail for businesses in the UK. I will be drawing upon the expert opinion of panel guests, and welcoming the views of all attendees, on this timely and complex issue.î
The debate is part of the Age Partnership Groupís Be Ready campaign, which aims to help employers create an age diverse workforce. Together the group is working with businesses of all sizes to provide some practical hints and tips on how to adopt and promote good practice. As part of these tips the APG has pulled together case study examples and research challenging outdated stereotypes on age in the workplace.
The APGís panel discussion takes place at the Moat House Hotel from 6-30pm.
