Bibby urges Government to put words in to action and support UK SMEs

Regulatory Reform Bill

Bibby Financial services, specialist provider of business cash flow solutions, is urging the Government to put words from yesterdayís Queenís speech in to action, by cutting red tape and reducing the regulatory burden on Britainís small business community.

David Robertson, chief executive of Bibby Financial Services, said: ìWith 71% of small business owners and managers across the country citing that keeping ahead of legislation and regulatory developments is one of their biggest hurdles for 2005*, we welcome the fact that the Government is finally listening to the concerns of the small business community in the shape of the new Regulatory Reform Bill.

ìHowever, after a number of false starts in recent years, we now need to see the Government putting their words into action. With 45 bills on the new agenda, I echo the concerns of the Federation of Small Businesses and other industry bodies that the Government may struggle to find the necessary resources to fulfil its promise.

ìHopefully, the Government will prove us wrong and demonstrate its new found commitment to small businesses, with yesterdayís speech marking a turning point for the UKís small business community.î
