Monster Worldwide, Inc. today announced the appointment of Phillip Bond as Senior Vice President, Government Relations. As Undersecretary of Commerce for Technology at the U.S. Department of Commerce and the former Director of Federal Public Policy for Hewlett-Packard, Mr. Bond is an accomplished Washington veteran with nearly 15 years of government experience spent in diverse legislative and executive branch roles.
In his new role as head of government affairs for the company, Mr. Bond will leverage his many years of government experience and technology expertise to increase Monsterís visibility within the federal and state government market. Chief among his responsibilities will be serving as a relationship leader with senior government officials, enabling new business development initiatives, promoting Monsterís visibility and brand image within government circles. Mr. Bond will also be a key member of the Monster Government Solutions executive team and play a major role in shaping the divisionís overall strategic planning and execution.

Prior to becoming Undersecretary of Commerce for Technology at the U.S. Department of Commerce in 2001, Mr. Bond was an advisor to the Bush campaign on technology issues and later served as Director of Federal Public Policy and head of the Washington, D.C. office for HP, where he served as the companyís voice to Congress and the Executive Branch. Earlier, he spent three years as Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and Treasurer for the Information Technology Industry Council in Washington, D.C. There he served as the lead lobbyist, communicating to Congress and the Administration on behalf of such leading IT companies as Apple, HP, Dell, Microsoft, Cisco, IBM and Intel.
Mr. Bond also served as Principal Deputy Assistant (Legislative Affairs) to U.S. Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney, and as Chief of Staff to Congresswoman Jennifer Dunn (R.-WA) and before that, former Congressman Bob McEwen (R.-OH). Mr. Bond began his career at The Rockey Company, an independent public relations agency in Seattle, Washington, before pursuing a career in public service. He earned a B.A. in Communications from Linfield College in Oregon.
