Waste on newspaper job advertising equals salaries of 50 teachers per term

Teachers wanting to move school in time for the Autumn term must resign by the 31st May.

Teachers wanting to move school in time for the Autumn term must resign by the 31st May.

This has brought about the usual seasonal lift in the number of teaching vacancies being advertised by schools this month.

Around 6,000 jobs appeared in TES w/c 11th April 2005, with an average of 2 jobs per advert, thatís 3000 adverts placed in a week. The average cost per advert = 350* per week.

Thousands of schools continue to ignore savings they could make on recruitment advertising by using one of the many online alternatives.

e.g. Eteach.com offers schools an online advertisement for around 150 per month. Say a school advertised just 2 posts a term it could save 400.

400 saving x 3, 000 adverts = 1, 2 00,000, enough to pay yearly salaries of 50 teachers.

Eteach.com was used by 1. 8 million unique visitors over the last twelve months doubling figures for the previous year.

There are around 438,000 teachers currently employed in England.**
