I am just back in the office having spent the last week in the US. Itís said that we in the UK are 6 months behind the US. A trip earlier this year took me to Finland where they think of themselves lagging 3 years behind the UK. Having attended a black tie dinner during my stay in Kokemaki, Finland and having heard the live band proudly singing Uriah Heap and Black Sabbath tunes it may be slightly more.
The US does lead the way in many areas so itís good to be able to report that the US feels like the economy has turned the corner and there is a tangible sense of optimism. Whilst at a recruiting event and I was encouraged to see a good number of delegates and exhibitors.
Onrec.com is building up to our big annual US conference in Chicago 3/4th November so I have more than a passing interest in how the US economy is doing and as a result where recruiting is on the to do list of companies.
As for hot topics of discussion in the US, employer brand remains rightly important, social networks continue to be discussed and new searching technologies are emerging that are going to make a big difference to the sophisticated recruiter.
If you want to know more about what's on the cutting edge of online recruiting I recommend you join Onrec.com to see our 65 speaker line up in Chicago and hear their views.
