David Hurst founder and CEO of onrec UK on the 25th June 2010 reached the top of the highest mountain in Africa and the highest single land mass in the world at 5895m ( 19340 ft) Mt Kilimanjaro, Tanzania.

The climb took 7 days to ascend and 2 days to descend. The route was the spectacular Lemosho route, through Forest, heather, moreland and alpine dessert. Final ascent was via the little used western Breech route.

David says “ Its one of the toughest challenges I have ever done, the combination of altitude and cold, made the final ascent starting at 4am in the morning memorable. With luck I will have raised close to £15,000 for the Southend Fund which supports 100’s of small charities in Southend.”

Whilst on the top David couldn’t resist waving the flag for onrec!
