Over 600 marketers join class of 2016 at the IDM Graduation ceremony

The IDM celebrates the graduation of its 2015-16 academic year

This afternoon London’s prestigious Royal Geographical Society plays host to the IDM Graduation ceremony, where the 620 members of its class of 2016 will join the over 10,000 IDM alumni. The ceremony will also feature a talk from Damian Ryan, founding partner of Mediaventura and author of the best-selling ‘Understanding Digital Marketing: Marketing Strategies for Engaging the Digital Generation’.

Jane Cave, MD at the IDM, comments: “Congratulations to all the marketers that have made it to the IDM Graduation ceremony today. It’s a credit to each of our graduates that they have committed to bettering themselves and being the best the one-to-one marketing industry has to offer. That’s why we’re proud to be celebrating their efforts today and I look forward to seeing how each of you continues to learn and shape the future of our industry in the future.”

Among the graduates receiving their IDM Professional Certificates, Professional Diplomas and Postgraduate Diploma scrolls today are the top students that have been individually recognised for outstanding performance in their respective qualifications results. These include:

  • IDM Professional Diploma in Direct and Digital Marketing – Emily King
  • IDM Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing – Jennica Chiang
  • IDM Postgraduate Diploma in Direct and Digital Marketing – Laura Pyman
  • IDM Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Marketing – Amy Bulsara

This year’s Derek Holder Special Achievement Award, given in honour of the IDM’s co-founder to the student that achieves particularly exceptional exam results, will be awarded to Emily King. The IDM Group Project Award, given as special recognition of the excellent extra-curricular work from the marketers studying the IDM Diploma in Direct and Digital Marketing, was given to Catriona Rasman, Clare Bowen, Kate Standing, Sundeep Ubbey and Suzanne Saunter.

The afternoon’s keynote speaker, Damian Ryan, added: “The Internet changed the game for marketers, offering new ways to engage and track customers over multiple touchpoints. However, this opportunity has been negatively affected by recent security breaches, data protection concerns and public mistrust of online content. In this challenging environment today’s graduates must lead the way forward for the next generation of marketers. It’s only through sharing and collaboration that we initiate the evolution our industry needs to continue to succeed.”

The IDM’s range of training could not happen without the help and support of the industry professionals and tutors. In recognition for their diligence and hard work, the IDM Tutors Awards for this year were extended to Anna Fletcher, David Forder, Edward Rex, Elliot Bertram, Gary Leer, Rhiannon Bull, Sarah Warsaw and Shashi Kapoor.

Finally, during the ceremony this afternoon the IDM’s annual Educator of the Year Award will be revealed. This accolade is reserved for the special few that, in any given year, have made a truly outstanding contribution to the betterment and education of the marketing industry and this year’s recipient will be named later today.
