Milkround sponsors inaugural SoMe awards and introduces social recruiting packages

Milkround, the most widely used graduate recruitment website, is proud to be the official media sponsor of the inaugural Graduate Recruitment Conference & Awards

Milkround, the most widely used graduate recruitment website, is proud to be the official media sponsor of the inaugural Graduate Recruitment Conference & Awards.

The conference and awards ceremony will demonstrate how graduate recruiters can successfully use social media to enhance their campaigns and will highlight the differences between social media platforms and tools.

At the conference on January 12th, 2012, Milkround will demonstrate how graduates use social media and how recruiters use it as a recruiting platform.

Milkround has seen  their social media community rise 127% in just 6 months as it focuses on giving candidates career information when and where they find it most useful. Mike Roberts, founder of the SoMe conference, said the following about why he chose Milkround as the media partner:

“Milkround was an obvious choice as media partner. It is already seen as one of the leading routes to the graduate market. That, coupled with the visionary people working there who have bought in to the growth of social media in this space, made it a no-brainer as a media partner. Their media schedule, a mix of digital and non-digital options, comfortably demonstrated to me that they could help reach both graduates and graduate recruiters. Early indications from the responses delivered on both fronts confirm my decision was right.”

In collaboration with AIA, Milkround will present new research on how Gen Y uses social media. It is often assumed Gen Y know and understand every aspect of social media. The reality is they can also feel lost in the circus of technology: many feel Gen Y, and even the future Gen Z, have not been taught the elements of social recruiting. Milkround will help bridge the gap between Gen Y and recruiters by presenting the findings and voicing the candidates’ opinions.

As social media usage increases, Milkround is educating candidates about social recruiting by hosting presentations at universities. In addition, Milkround is offering a bespoke service to clients to help them promote their opportunities via social networks: Milkround will evaluate and give advice on client’s social recruiting strategy from a Gen Y perspective.

Milkround’s Communications Executive Anne-Lise Johnsen, who is also a member of the judging panel for the awards said: “We are excited about the prospects of being involved with SoMe. We see much potential in this area, and you’ll hear a first-hand account from future candidates with the help of AIA at the conference. Our contribution to the conference will educate graduate recruiters about what candidates are looking for and how they are using social media. We can stop making assumptions about Gen Y, and focus on the knowledge we have to help them in a challenging job market.”
