Whatjobsite.com, the online recruitment advice website for recruiters, has published the results of its Job Board Survey 2009.

As part of its ongoing commitment to quality research in the online recruitment area, whatjobsite conducted the survey over the summer period with the aim of capturing the views and opinions of Managing Directors, Sales Directors and Marketing staff of leading job boards about the state of the job board market. To ensure confidentiality and reliability the survey was conducted anonymously. Consequently, it offers a fascinating insight into the sector:

Headline results include:

56% of job boarders report total business is down
70% report decreases in job posting by Recruitment Consultancies
58% report decreases in marketing spend
58% report decreases in staff numbers in their companies

ìThe results of the survey will confirm what many in the industry will have already suspected. The UK Job Board Sector is suffering its most difficult period since its inception. Revenues are down, marketing budgets are slashed and staff are being let go. The industry has never seen anything like this beforeî says Karl Schweppe, Managing Director of whatjobsite.

However, while the industry faces severe challenges at the moment, the results are not all bad news. Many job boarders express optimism about the future:

33.3% of participants report signs of green shoots
73% are generally positive about the year to come
