REC celebrates 500th apprentice to study with Institute of Recruitment Professionals

The REC is celebrating an important milestone as Rebekah Mayes becomes the 500th person to undertake a recruitment apprenticeship through the REC’s Institute of Recruitment Professionals (IRP) since the programme launched in 2013.

Working for Miller Group in Northern Ireland, Rebekah trains with apprenticeship provider People 1st and is taking her first steps towards a career in recruitment.

Rebekah Mayes, apprentice recruiter at Miller Group says:

“To anyone thinking of doing an apprenticeship in recruitment I say go for it. It’s an excellent way to build the foundations for a varied and rewarding career. I learn more about recruitment every day from working in the office and I’ve been supported by a fantastic team at Miller Group.”

REC chief executive Kevin Green says:

“Recruitment is growing rapidly and as an industry we need to focus on attracting more young people to our fantastic profession. We’ve reached a great milestone with our 500th apprentice, but now we need to bring in even greater numbers. The REC will do our part, but we want every one of our corporate members to take responsibility and provide more opportunities to young people. Let’s be more vocal about the benefits on offer with a career in recruitment. If young people are prepared to work hard they can have a rewarding career helping to transform lives.”
