Zellis invests in product innovation to transform payroll and HR operations

Zellis HCM Cloud 7.0 includes enhancements to National Minimum Wage calculations, an API developer portal, and SAP SuccessFactors connector

Zellis - the UK and Ireland’s largest provider of payroll and HR software, has made key updates within its HCM Cloud 7.0 release as the company continues to invest in transforming customer operations and colleague experiences.

HCM Cloud 7.0 was announced at the recent Zellis User Summit - the company’s annual customer conference, which was attended by a record 400+ customers. Primary updates include:

Enhancements to National Minimum Wage (NMW) calculations

Customers can now split between current period and annual NMW calculations to enhance monitoring capabilities and prevent overtime being reported as excess hours. In addition, the release includes improved automation around NMW calculations relating to absence and HMRC compliance. These enhancements will help payroll teams to easily and accurately process changes to the NMW and National Living Wage (NLW).

Zellis Intelligence Platform Developer Portal

A new and innovative developer portal that delivers API guidance and documentation to customers’ developers, enabling them to build their own integrations into Zellis HCM Cloud.

API-based real-time connector to SAP SuccessFactors

This connector leverages the power of the Zellis Intelligence Platform to standardise and streamline data synchronisation between Zellis HCM Cloud Payroll Edition and other best-of-breed solutions, delivering lower cost of ownership through simplified implementation, increased automation, and operational savings. Colleague changes to HCM Cloud Payroll can now be made directly from SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central without the need for manual intervention, which improves accuracy and reduces overpayment errors.

George Dunnett, Chief Product Officer at Zellis, said: “Since the launch of Zellis HCM Cloud, we’ve seen customers moving quickly to adopt new features such as Power BI-based dashboards, API-based integrations to other HR systems, and an intuitive self-service mobile app. Since its launch in spring 2021, more than half of our entire customer base has migrated to Zellis HCM Cloud.”

Also previewed at the Zellis User Summit were several product innovations that use advanced new technology, including Generative AI-powered payroll and HR self-service features which are being developed for release next year. Other popular innovations with customers at the User Summit include Power Automate functionality that will enable customers to deploy their own automations easily and quickly, taking the strain and effort out of HR administration.

Commenting on the product plans in development, Dunnett said: “Technology architectural choices can often prove decisive in accelerating the pace of innovation. Our choice to adopt open data architecture and to work with Microsoft on Azure has been hugely validated by our rapid progress over the past year. Zellis is now working with customers to pilot new products using innovative technologies, with a view to releasing upgraded versions of our software next year.”
