Working mums looking to retrain

If you are in the training business or education then working mums could be a key target for you

If you are in the training business or education then working mums could be a key target for you.

According to a recent Workingmums.co.uk poll, large numbers of mums are considering retraining as a way round the recession or to get back into work.

It found that 59% of the 230 people polled were considering retraining (but they had not fully committed to it yet). Thirty per cent were actively seeking some form of retraining and only 5% had not considered it.

Some mothers said they were doing degrees to get out of low-paid or unchallenging jobs. But others said they were not confident of leaving their job in the current climate, even though they felt hemmed in by it. One said: ìI'm considering retraining, but not really doing anything about it - I don't fully know why.....I'm working full time in an OK job - no scope for progression though, feel a bit stuck, I don't want to risk my current job by starting somewhere new. Think I'm just a bit scared.î
