Thousands of additional copies of the Prospects Directory have been distributed to graduate careers fairs across the UK as jobseekers flock to meet with potential employers.
Mike Hill, chief executive of Graduate Prospects says: “As the summer season kicks-off, graduates are heading in droves to careers fairs in the hope to meet their future employers.
“It’s been only a day into several of the fairs when we’ve had to send out additional copies of our Directory, meeting an unprecedented demand. We’re now doubling our usual distribution to keep up.
“Graduates are seeking direct, face-to-face contact with businesses and they won’t be disappointed. There continue to be a huge number of employers attending fairs as they continue to be an effective recruitment channel. It’s not unknown for companies to interview and even take-on staff on the spot.”
Jan Hewitt, graduate fair organiser at The University of Manchester adds: “We have welcomed more exhibitors over the two days of the Manchester Fair than any other graduate recruitment fair in the UK this year. Around 6,000 students and graduates have attended to see the 190 companies at the 2011 event and we are delighted so many have found the fair a worthwhile addition to their job search. Prospects Directory is always hugely sought after at the fair, but this year has been exceptional.”
Prospects Directory is read by a third of all finalists, including 27% of students at the top 30 HEIs1.
