The biggest issue facing recruiters today is not the recession - but timing and getting prepared for the recovery. Thatís according to Bill Boorman, Managing Director of the Bill Boorman Consultancy.
ìThrough my radio show and LinkedIn ëgood news groupí I have found that things are definitely getting better and we are rising as an industry off the bottom of the recession. Thereís now a sustained trend of increased temp and interim business as well as a positive mood of confidence in the permanent marketî, says Boorman.
ìThe hard work you have put in over the last 12 months that has kept you around and fighting will now start to pay off with revenueî, adds Boorman. ìThe key though is making sure that you retain those customers and grow them as business volumes increase - donít fall back into the habit of becoming delivery agents to a few key accounts!î
Bill has already forecast that the recovery will come in May 2010 (the 10th to be exact) and emphasises that part of any recruiterís planning should focus on candidates. ìThey may be plentiful but you need to focus on maximising the opportunities given by a bulging database.î
Bill has been discussing these issues on his new radio talk show ìReady for Lift Offî which goes out every Monday - archived episodes can be found at:
