Septemberís Bank of Scotland Labour Market Report highlighted that recruiters continue to face difficulties finding qualified candidates to fill vacancies in Scotland as staff availability fell over the month. In September permanent and temporary staff appointments rose, although the rates of growth were down from the peaks recorded in June. Salaries also rose at a slower pace in September, reflecting a slight easing of demand for staff.
The reportís labour market barometer was at a six-month low of 60.6 in September, down from 61.1 in August, but still pointed to a strengthening Scottish jobs market. The index was above the equivalent barometer for the wider UK economy.
September data indicated that Engineering and Construction workers were the most sought-after type of staff in both the permanent and temporary sectors.
