The Training Camp doubles its intake this spring

Employees choose career development not sun

The Training Camp has seen a 50 per cent rise in participants in its spring / summer courses, suggesting career development is high on an IT professionalís agenda.

The accelerated learning expert has seen an unprecedented demand for some of its most popular qualifications such as the project management certification Prince2, and Security5, the course designed for non-IT professionals. Extra dates have had to be added to its training schedule to cope with demand.

ìThe rise in course uptake suggests that many people are choosing to stay at home and study rather than head for the sun. Many are even using their personal holiday entitlement to complete courses,î said Robert Chapman, CEO and co-founder of The Training Camp. ìIn previous years Easter is normally one of our quietest periods, but this year saw the highest level of delegates since we were founded in 2001.î

The Training Camp runs accelerated learning courses for busy IT professionals and recently won IT Training Company of the Year. Accelerated learning courses allow employees to complete courses in a matter of days rather than months or even years.

ìWrapping training time around public holidays like Easter and taking an accelerated learning course means less precious holiday time is used,î continued Chapman. ìThe UK is heading for a skills crisis and unless this is addressed sooner rather than later, the IT industry will be in a serious state. However it looks like UK workers are feeling increasingly driven to learn, which should mean any impending crisis is avoided before it gets a chance to gain a foothold.î
