Research conducted by Bullhorn has found that recruiters in Europe consider a shortage of skilled candidates to be their biggest challenge in 2013. The company surveyed 195 recruiters and found 36 per cent reported the shortage of quality candidates to be their biggest challenge, followed by economic uncertainty and unrealistic client expectations with 23 per cent and 17 per cent of the vote respectively.
Bullhorn believes the skills shortage is creating ‘fierce competition’ among recruiters, which are now using the latest high-tech tools to source talent. This might seem perverse, given that structural unemployment is probably higher than it has ever been, but, given the statistics quoted above, where are the skills shortages? What methods are recruiters using to hire in these areas? What are the lessons to be learned for online recruiters?
Bullhorn launched in the UK in 2009 and have met the increasing demand from recruiters for integrated online recruitment software and now have a substantial business which is now serviced from UK. Mike Restivo is in an excellent position to look at where skills shortages are most acute and review what recruiters are doing to try to meet demand in these critical areas.
This presentation will give a fascinating insight into how the recruitment market is changing and how online recruitment has continued to thrive in the face of change and stiff competition.
