IOSH (the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) has welcomed the launch today of the Health and Safety Executiveís (HSEís) new simplified guidance on health and safety risk.
The new guide, which is being launched as part the HSEís ësensible risk managementí campaign, received the backing of IOSH President, Neil Budworth, who said: ìItís important people understand health and safety isnít about paperwork and stopping people having fun . . . itís about finding sensible ways to do things safely. Millions of people are able to enjoy sports such as Formula One racing, hang-gliding and rock-climbing because the dangers have been controlled.
Mr Budworth added: ìIOSHís Safestartup (www.safestartup.org) website aims to simplify health and safety for new businesses and small firms, and weíll be linking to this new HSE guide ñ the revamped of ëFive steps to risk assessmentí will complement our approach of presenting information in a user-friendly way.
ìIOSH believes sensible risk management is the key to good health and safety. Too often, health and safety is used to justify unpopular decisions. We hope the launch of this document can help us show that health and safety, done properly, is the key to a well-run, profitable business.î
Simple steps to success!
