More and more companies are now using Assessment Centres for vacancies across a wide range of levels of seniority but the level of expertise in running these effectively still varies greatly. In response, Search Consultancy has launched a new training scheme that focuses specifically on the coaching of Assessment Centre Assessors.
Scotland’s fastest growing recruitment specialists say that this pilot scheme will be the first of its kind in the UK.
Sarah McParland, Associate Director of Search Consultancy in Glasgow, says Over the last few years we have seen a tremendous growth in the demand for Assessment Centre Assessors. These Assessors test every type and level of staff, from telesales professionals and engineers right through to middle and Senior Management. At Search in Glasgow we are investing in a Training Academy to help meet this growing demand.
Many HR graduates leave university with the right qualifications, but lacking hands on experience. Unfortunately, this turns into the familiar Catch 22 situation for some - how can they gain experience when they need experience to get a job in the first place?
This is where Search Consultancy comes in. At Search in Glasgow potential assessors can attend a two day assessment course free of charge. This not only lends them valuable practical experience, but allows all those who will be active in the industry to share notions of best practice.
Sarah explains, Assessors are trained in every aspect of professional assessment; everything from interview techniques and role playing to accurate note taking, presentation and professionalism. The training we offer here at Search is very much ’hands-on’ and we work in small groups to allow as much participation as possible.
Sarah adds, Once the newly qualified assessors are introduced to client premises they are mentored by our trainer who takes on the role as a ’buddy’ should the candidate have any questions post-training. We see this as very much progressing the candidate as far as we are able to; only ending when we have secured positions for them in live assessments and beyond, to the next stage of their career.
