Safe Solutions International Limited urges careful career choice for first time workers

Research released recently by Gumtree indicates that 51% of workers stumble into their first job, with no clear career path

Ruth Blakemore, Group CEO of Safe Solutions International Limited, advises workers to consider contracting in their early career, to get more experience of market sectors, company cultures and the nature of different roles before settling into a permanent job. A permanent job featuring for just a few months on your CV can hold you back, and so choosing the wrong job can be a very time-consuming mistake.î

She continued: ìIf you know what you want to do as a profession, and that option is open to you, take a permanent role. However, if you are unsure what your future holds, the aspects of contracting that can be regarded as negatives, such as the effort it takes to find new contracts, can become advantages. As a self-employed contractor you can bill your services through a limited company, which means you can earn significantly more. Contracting is ideal for those who are yet to make long term career decisions, and can use this style of working as a way of dipping their toes in the water before diving head first into a career that might not be for them in the long term.
