Recruitment society team walking 40 miles for Save the Children

Donít forget to sponsor them!

We are pleased to announce that once again this year The Recruitment Society (www.recruitmentsociety.org.uk) will be entering a team for the annual Photoplod event (3rd-4th June.) Photoplod is a somewhat arduous sponsored walk (originally devised by the Photo Industry - hence the name) along 40 miles of the South Downs Way, starting at Steyning in West Sussex and finishing at Birling Gap near Eastbourne, East Sussex. The team starts very late on the Friday night and continues overnight to finish (we hope!) sometime on Saturday. The Society entered this event as a new and very worthwhile addition to the Society calendar for the first time in 2004, and despite the hardships incurred as we struggled over the finish line then, we are back this year with a bigger team!

Once again we have a very worthwhile cause to be sponsored for - Save the Children. Full details of the event can be found at the Photoplod website: www.photoplod.com

The team is assembled and ready to go, but we would hope that there is an important way in which everyone associated professionally with recruitment could support us - sponsorship! We enjoyed strong and widespread support last year, but naturally we want to do even better this time - and of course the thought of the money we will be raising does sustain the team when the going gets tough. Just one small but salient fact to put all this into context:

5 pays for a health worker to visit 50 mothers and children in a poor community in Tanzania

We do hope that everyone reading this piece will help us in whatever way you can, so please, please do not leave it to someone else. To contribute, please email back your pledge through the Society website or send the donation to my address below (cheques payable to Save the Children) and remember that thanks to Gift Aid tax relief all donations can be increased by 28%, but to do that we must have your full address and postcode (Save the Children will NOT use your details to contact you, only to claim tax relief back from the government.)

Many thanks to everyone in advance for their support.
