The Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) is the representative body for the UK recruitment industry with three Regional Directors in the West Midlands. The REC has previously worked with JobCentre Plus following large-scale redundancies at the Longbridge plant and closures in other regions.

Commenting on the Ryton announcement Philip Delaloye, one of the REC regional directors in the West Midlands ìWeíre still on the look out for skilled workersî commented. ìWe will work with jobcentreplus and others in the West Midlands area to ensure that the maximum amount of skills transfer happens.î

The RECís monthly Report on Jobs ñ produced in association with KPMG and NTC Economics, highlights that engineering is one of the areas where there is a demand for workers.

The relatively robust state of the labour market in the West Midlands should hopefully make it possible for workers to get new jobs as and when becomes necessary. The challenge will be to find ways in which their skills can be transferred and adapted to the jobs available.
