Recruitment opportunities have increased in the UK in recent weeks, according to
new employment figures, with engineers and accountants proving to be most in
demand.

The figures, released by employment specialists Reed, have shown that people
working in professional services and in traditional industrial fields have been
high on the list of recruiters' and employers' needs, with the East Midlands
and East Anglia showing to be the geographic regions with highest demand.

Reed's Martin Warnes, said, Key job sectors such as insurance and
engineering reached the highest levels we have experienced since our job index
began 18 months ago.

In spite of residual concerns over the economy, opportunities for
jobseekers are growing again as employers look for the talent they need to
support their ambitions for the future, he added.

The good news about employment opportunities has been backed up by a separate
set of statistics that have shown that employment opportunities in the
financial sector have firmly turned around from the job cutting seen in recent
years.

The joint survey carried out by the CBI and financial services firm,
PricewaterhouseCoopers, showed that recruitment at the nation's top banks had increased in the three months to the end
of June - the first time that has happened since 2009.
