The vast majority of recruiters are potentially wasting time and money, as well as producing unnecessary carbon emissions, travelling to offsite interviews each year, according to latest research from The SeeV, a web-based video interview tool for recruiters and jobseekers.
The survey of recruiters found that over 60 per cent had to travel offsite for interviews up to 150 times in the last year, with many travelling in excess of 50 miles from their offices.
David Pottier, managing director at The SeeV, said: “The survey results show that there is considerable scope for the interview process to be greener and more efficient now that web-based video technology is accessible to all. In the current economic climate, companies are looking for new, innovative ways to reduce costs wherever they can and jobseekers need to ensure that they stand out above the rest.
“The SeeV is a key player within the video-enabled talent acquisition (VETA) market sector as it fully supports the concept of having a video interview from anywhere. This kind of technology brings a new dimension to the interview process and could herald the end of the telephone interview by allowing recruiters and jobseekers to experience virtual face-to-face interviews using simple webcams. This method of working can significantly increase the number of candidates interviewed to save time and money, as well as reduce their carbon footprint.”
