The current downturn may result in some employers into cutting corners in their recruitment processes, a move which will prove to be false economy.

To demonstrate the importance of professional recruiters delivering the best possible service during these recessionary times, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation is today launching a new campaign, Serious About Standards.

This campaign is designed to help the RECís corporate members and members of the Institute of Recruitment Professionals. It will help them demonstrate why it makes perfect business sense to use them to ensure compliance with the law and develop the talent they need to win in this highly competitive environment – and the added value they bring as a benefit.

The campaign covers six core areas of the REC services.

Quality Assurance – to help members convey to their clients the benefits of working to the highest possible standards defined in the RECís Code of Professional Practice

Minimising Risk – to show how the RECís fully comprehensive legal services are crucial in helping members and their clients protect themselves.

Qualifications - highlighting the benefits that will be reaped by their clients in using members who hold the RECís industry recognised qualifications

Promoting Talent – to showcase the value that the gifted professionals who work for the REC corporate members can deliver. This they can do by encouraging their staff to join the RECís newly launched Institute of Recruitment Professionals (IRP)

Promote Your Business- to offer members a new range of marketing tools which will enable them to promote the value of the REC membership to clients, in particular, to highlight that they have standards and integrity
Top 10 Ways to use standards in business – to provide 10 different ways to use standards- all focussed on making a real, tangible difference to recruitersí performance and clientsí bottom line

Fiona Coombe, the RECís Director of Professional Services said of the campaign: ìIn these difficult times, we believe we should be helping our members to maintain and promote their professional integrity. We are doing this by providing an extensive range of services and products to keep them at the vanguard of good recruitment practice enabling them to continuously deliver the highest possible standards.î

The new campaign has been created following the great success of the RECís HELP campaign, which generated more than 82,000 hits on the website.

Fola Tayo, the RECís Head of Professional Standards, added: ìDemonstrating the highest levels of best practice provides a cast-iron assurance to clients, candidates and staff that REC members are setting the standard within the industry. Professional standards are at the core of everything REC members do and this campaign will give them even more support to ensure they are meeting all the requirements set out under our ten point Code of Professional Practice.î
