The Australian recruitment and on-hire industry has welcomed the decision handed down by the Fair Pay Commission today, saying it will bring more certainty to the employment market.
ìThe decision to increase the minimum wage by $27.36 per week, delivered by Ian Harper, Chairman of the Commission, was timely and welcome. It will provide a greater level of certainty in terms of workforce planning, for a broad range companies and industry sectors. At the same time, it meets the needs of workers faced with rising costs of living,î Ms Julie Mills, CEO of the Recruitment and Consulting Services Association (RCSA) said.
The RCSA also praised the Commission for its consultative approach.
ìClearly, this decision has been reached after extended dialogue with a range of stakeholders. And given the broad reach that the decision will have, this is both appropriate and admirable. RCSA believes the fair and balanced approach has delivered an outcome that will benefit business, workers and the broader economy,î Ms Mills said.
