More than 10,000 students and graduates have registered for Graduate Prospects Virtual Fairs 2008 and nearly 7000 CVs have been uploaded – record numbers.

The figures have been well received by employers, especially in light of the credit crunch, which is threatening graduate recruitment budgets. The fairs on prospects.ac.uk provide an opportunity for employers to interact with potential job candidates, sparing the significant time and cost associated with attending traditional recruitment fairs.

Graduate recruiters can continue to register to take part in the fairs until 27 November 2008.

Director of Sales at Graduate Prospects, Allan Brown explains: ìThe figures demonstrate that our virtual fairs are providing an innovative and relevant job-seeking avenue at a time when students are clinging to every employment opening they can find. We anticipated that the current economic climate would generate a surge of interest, but we didnít appreciate just how high the interest would be.

ìItís a fantastic result for us, and weíre pleased to exceed the expectations of students and recruiters alike.î

Kent County Council has taken part in one of this year's virtual fairs. Alison Daragon, projects co-ordinator in the strategic development unit of the council says: The Graduate Prospects virtual careers fair was very easy to set-up and provided us with the perfect opportunity to promote the Kent Graduate Programme to virtual attendees of the fair at the touch of a button. I would highly recommend these fairs as a way of reaching potential applicants in a cost-effective manner.
