Prospects launches first greener work experience recruitment fair

Placement employers and students can interact without the usual time, travel and resources associated with attending traditional work experience fairs as prospects.ac.uk launches its 2008 Virtual Fairs

Placement employers and students can interact without the usual time, travel and resources associated with attending traditional work experience fairs as prospects.ac.uk launches its 2008 Virtual Fairs.

This innovative recruitment channel enables employers to boost their green credentials as well as reach employment seeking students, without the need for specialised software or downloads. For the first time, Prospects Virtual Fairs will hold a work experience event, providing a unique environment where placement providers and students can unite in their market interests.

Employers will have the opportunity to market themselves and engage with the next generation of technology-savvy business leaders in a fitting environment. They will be able to search CVs and post vacancies, as well as interact with students through online presentations, moderated group chats and one-to-one virtual interviews.

Publishing Director at Graduate Prospects, Jayne Rowley explains: ìFollowing the success of last yearís virtual fairs we have had many people interested in attending sector-specific events. This year our fairs will cover seven markets, providing a unique opportunity for recruiters to promote their organisation and get students and graduates excited about them as an employer.î

Laura Brown from Maxxima Ltd took part in previous virtual fairs, she comments: ìThe event was a great success for us and we gained some great feedback in terms of what graduates are looking for. This is something that we would not normally have gained from simply placing on-line adverts and was much appreciated. We received a number of applications, eight of which were very high quality. We have used Prospects successfully in the past and the Virtual Fair confirmed our faith in them to continue to provide us with highly skilled, motivated graduate candidates.î

The work placement fair will take place 1st – 5th December 2008 and is expected to attract around 2,000 visitors. Confirmed exhibitors include BUNAC, BAE Systems, Carillion and Intel but placement providers still have time to register. The Virtual Fairs consist of a number of key zones including chat events, exhibitor profiles, vacancies, CVs, key sponsor information and interactive careers advice.

Prospects Virtual Fair 2007 enabled employers to meet thousands of potential employees and have since attracted more than 20,000 job seeking students and graduates to the virtual fairs archive.
