With a top prize of £500, The YoCo Awards (an abbreviation of ‘Young Contractor’) seek to celebrate those young professionals who have opted to pursue contracting and freelance roles in their field, in favour of greater flexibility and better remuneration.
Entrants will be asked to submit a short 100 word summary of their career, outlining key achievements to date. Contracting experts at Parasol will decide on a shortlist of three (3) finalists before a public vote crown the overall winner.
James Lawton-Hill, marketing director of Parasol said: “It’s no secret that the traditional nine-to-five work model is being eroded by a new generation of workers who want the freedom to work when and where they want. As an organisation, we pride ourselves on helping freelancers and contractors achieve a more fruitful ‘WorkStyle’ whilst minimising the hassle that can sometimes be associated with self-employment.
“We wanted to create a platform that seeks to instil confidence in young contractors by highlighting the many success stories that are out there – such positive case studies can serve as inspiration for those considering contracting as a full-time career. We hope people in the industry will be as excited as we are about the YoCos and we’re looking forward to receiving the award’s first-ever entries!”
