CIPD Annual Conference and Exhibition, 17-19 November 2009, Manchester Central
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Developmentís (CIPD) Annual Conference and Exhibition, which takes place next month at Manchester Central, promises to be a showcase for local management and HR initiatives that have enabled organisations to flourish despite the recession.
As well as large multinationals that have a presence in the North-West – like BAE Systems, Microsoft, IBM and the Bank of New York Mellon – public sector organisations, including the Greater Manchester Police, will be offering insight into planning effective HR strategies for recovery.
A highlight will be a presentation from Sir Howard Bernstein, Chief Executive of Manchester City Council, who will be sharing how remarkable changes have been achieved in the city of Manchester over the last decade. Heíll also be discussing plans to grow, diversify and augment Manchesterís position as a leading European City.

Exhibition
Hundreds of leading HR and development suppliers will also be exhibiting, including organisations across the north-west, from universities and business schools to specialist consultancies. Visitors will be able to assess the latest people management and development resources and sample a variety of exhibition features under one roof.
Manchester Chamber of Commerce will be sharing insights about levels of employee engagement in the North-West, from a survey of senior HR directors in the region. The presentation is part of the programme of free learning showcases and networking events taking place throughout the three days of the show.
