Optimum Recruitment celebrates its 8th birthday this month. The company is a Milton Keynes success story, and was founded by Janet Whitehill in September 1997 as a specialist recruiter for Lorry Drivers.
After amassing 16 years in recruitment at a number of different agencies, Janet decided to go it alone. Optimum started with just 2 employees and 5-10 drivers working on a casual basis. Optimum now has a database of 2,000 drivers and offers both temporary and permanent positions across the driver and logistics sector, dealing with over 40 clients.
Janet Whitehill, founder and managing director, Optimum said: Too many bad recruiters trying to make a quick buck were damaging the reputation of the industry. There is a lot of competition in recruitment and I wanted Optimum to differentiate itself by providing drivers with a better continuity and quality of work.
The next step for Optimum will be to open a series of offices in the surrounding area as Janet looks to make Optimum a household name.
Phil Dufty of Wincanton said, In the 5 years we have worked with Optimum we have been impressed with the quality of service. Janet and her team operate with a high degree of professionalism whilst delivering consistently reliable drivers.
Janet is a key member of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) Drivers Industry Sector Group. The REC works with recruiters to maintain standards and professionalism within the industry.
