I have been in business over 25 years and have seen ups and downs of the economy. I will share with you one thing I am convinced will help you and your organisation in 2009.
Get out and meet people. Accept every invite you get. Go to every exhibition and conference you can. There is a tendency to spend more time hidden behind the PC when sales drop, shuffle budgets and hide. Don't. Get out there. Meet your customers, potential customers and industry colleagues.
I attended an event last week. I set out on a wet afternoon for a long drive, it would have been easy to forget the idea and stay in my warm office. But I didn't, I went, partly because I said I would go (that's another sermon on my word is my bond but I digress) but mainly because you never know, who you will meet and what you will learn.
I got home late after 10pm and it was one of the best business related evenings I have ever had.
So here is the plug, you knew it was coming... We have events in London, Dubai and Chicago in 09, get to one of them, go to all of them. You wont regret it. I will see you there.
