Gradcracker.com, the careers website for engineering & technology students, has announced the launch of its Women in SET section, sponsored by National Grid.
Gradcracker is concerned that, currently, the ratio of female engineering and technology students to male is about 16:84 and, believes it is important both that this already small minority is encouraged to stay within the engineering and technology sector when they graduate and that future generations of women are encouraged to pursue SET degrees and careers.
With this in mind, Gradcracker’s Women in SET section aims to highlight the breadth of opportunities within the sector through profiles of recent graduates who are successful pursuing a career and inspirational female engineers and scientists.
The section also features events listings and informative articles from organisations, employers and graduates as well as news from industry bodies such as the UKRC, WISE (Women into Science, Engineering and Construction) and the Women’s Engineering Society.
Emma Docherty, Gradcracker’s Head of Customer Relations and the driving force behind the project said. “The feedback I have already received from employers, students and industry bodies prior to launch has shown a huge swell of support for what we are trying to achieve with the new section and I am sure that female SET students and graduates will find it to be a useful addition to gradcracker.com.”
