Norman Broadbent, the executive search and leadership consultancy firm, announces that it has placed David Lennan as the new Chairman of Pilotlight, one of Britainís most innovative small charities. Pilotlight works to help small, innovative charities grow and fulfil their potential by recruiting proven leaders and high fliers from business and industry who want to donate their skills to charities.
David Lennan has a substantial record in business as well as the public and not-for-profit sectors. He is particularly familiar with the relationship between business and the voluntary sector, having been Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce and also the first Chief Executive of the Agricultural Industries Confederation. A former Director of NatWest, he subsequently spent three years with Surrey County Council, where he led a 50m development and modernisation programme. In 2004, David founded BusinessHR, an online HR services and advisory firm supporting several thousand small and medium-size companies.
Robin Murray Brown, Managing Director of the Public and Not-for-Profit practice at Norman Broadbent led the search. Commenting on the appointment, he said:
ìPilotlight has an excellent story to tell, and we are delighted to have worked for an organisation which, like us, prides itself on excellence and innovation. Our intention on this search was to bring a degree of rigour to the appointment, using our networks in both the not-for-profit and the business worlds to attract a candidate of Davidís calibre. We believe an increasing number of charities now see the value in using professional recruitment services for trustee board appointments.î
