NetworkersMSB strengthens renewables team as government pledges commitment to green fuels

International technology recruitment specialist NetworkersMSB has strengthened its burgeoning Renewable Energy business with the appointment of Adam Grainger as Head of Renewable Energy

International technology recruitment specialist NetworkersMSB has strengthened its burgeoning Renewable Energy business with the appointment of Adam Grainger as Head of Renewable Energy. Adam, who has 11 yearsí experience in the recruitment industry, returns to NetworkersMSB after four years running a leading manufacturing and retail consultancy.

The appointment coincides with the Governmentís renewed commitment to the renewable energy sector, with the announcement of a 525m cash injection into the offshore wind industry in the Budget.

According to the British Wind Energy Association, wind is the world's fastest growing renewable energy source, a trend which is expected to continue with falling costs of wind energy and the Governmentís pledge to be producing 15% of the nationís energy from renewables by 2020.

NetworkersMSB is now even better placed to match industry professionals with some of the estimated 70,000* long term job opportunities in the wind industry that will need to be created if the UK is to meet its target. Although the UK already has the biggest offshore wind capacity in the world, just 700 people are currently employed in this country; the majority of NetworkersMSB renewable energy clients and jobs are based in mainland Europe where some countries already generate as much as 20% of their electricity from wind farms. Clients include major utilities companies such as EON, Gamesa, Nuon, Nordex and Siemens.

ìThe Renewable Energy team covers jobs in all sectors of renewables including solar, wind, wave and biomass,î says Grainger, ìbut the majority of current vacancies are in wind power.î

Current jobs span Wind Project Developers, Wind Resource Analysts and Project Managers and Maintenance and Electrical Engineers; between 90 to 95% are permanent contracts. ìAlthough NetworkersMSB recruits mainly for roles in Europe, a growing number are in the US, Asia, China and the Middle East and now, hopefully the UK.î

ìThere is an incredible demand for skilled people in the renewables fieldî, says Grainger. ìMany people are being recruited from the oil and gas industries with transferable skills. We have 40-50 live jobs on the NetworkersMSB website at any one time and salaries range from Ä60,000 - Ä150,000. A wind farm developer with five yearsí experience can expect to earn around Ä100,000. These guys are likely to be in their early 30s so the salaries are very good.î

NetworkersMSB CEO Spencer Manuel says: ìWe are very pleased to welcome Adam back to head up such an exciting and dynamic division. In the short term Adam and the team will continue to be based at our Bromley head office but we have plans to open an American office later this year and, if business in this sector continues to thrive, we hope to have renewable energy teams in all of our 17 offices worldwide within a couple of years.î
