More Jobs Again, Despite Oil Hikes

The Olivier Internet Job Index grew by 2.29% in September to reach a fifth consecutive record month

The Olivier Internet Job Index grew by 2.29% (seasonally adjusted) in September to reach a fifth consecutive record month. The new high, of 185,714 jobs ads counted on major job boards, is almost double the number recorded when the index started in December 1999. The IJI has risen 30.50% (seasonally adjusted) in the past 12 months.

The biggest growth in September was the Engineering and Mining sector, up 7.75%. It has grown 65.36% over the year, on the back of the resources export boom. Healthcare grew 6.08% in the month, Education had a 5.88% increase in job ads, and Trades and Services jobs were up 5.58%.
