A recent global poll by Monster has found that 85% of UK workers surveyed would head back to university this autumn if they were given the chance; this is just above the global average of 81%. Many of the workers polled said that heading back to education would allow them to achieve their career goals and give them opportunities to learn which is something they do not get from their current jobs.
Monster UK recently asked workers in the UK, ìDo you wish you could head back to university this Autumn?î The findings are as follows:
Yes, I feel like Iím not learning at my job – 45%
Yes, because it would help me achieve my career goals – 40%
No, I like my job/life as it is – 15%
Respondents in Germany and Italy are even less happy with their jobs, with only 7% of workers saying they were happy with the way their jobs/lives currently are. Workers polled in Finland seem to be the happiest, with over 30% saying they were content with their lives as they are. While workers in Luxembourg seem to be the least challenged in their jobs, with over 62% stating their reasons for wanting to go back to college as that they do not feel they are learning enough in their job.
ìIt is important for employers to challenge their workers to ensure greater job satisfaction and incentive to stay with that employer,î said Julian Acquari, Managing Director, Monster UK and Ireland. ìOne of the first things many jobseekers look for is evidence of solid training and a clear growth path. In-house and external training schemes can prove a good investment for companies, so that their workers feel up-to-date and in touch with what is going on in the business world. Often if an employee doesnít feel challenged it can cause demotivation and reduced productivity, as well as their potential departure.î
